Bettencourt Daniel A 780605 np Mass Today for Daniel Bettencourt; A funeral cortege will leave the Evans-Krieger Funeral Chapel in Newman at 9:30 a.m. today, Monday, for St. Joachim Catholic Church where a Mass of Christian burial will be said at 10 a.m. for Daniel Anthony Bettencourt who died Thursday night, 17 days following a roping accident. He had been in a coma with head injuries suffered when the horse he was riding tripped and fell in a roping arena in Stevinson on May 16. A rosary was recited Sunday evening at 9 in St. Joachim Catholic Church. Twenty-nine years old and a native of Newman, he was a graduate of Orestimba High School with the Class of 1967. He also graduated from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo where he was a member of the championship rodeo team. He was most. recently employed by Simon Newman Company as a sales representative. He leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Manuel Bettencourt of Newman; grandmother, Mary Teixeira of Gustine; one sister, Mrs. Beverly Rodrigues of Turlock, and two brothers, Bob and Manny of Newman.
