Mother of Bettencourts Dies in Gilroy; Final rites were held Monday in Gilroy for Rose Bettencourt, the mother of three
area residents.  She died last Friday in Gilroy at age 94. A vigil and mass were held Monday morning at St. Mary's
Church.  Entombment was at Santa Clara Catholic Cemetery in Santa Clara.  The Habing Family Funeral Home in Gilroy
was in charge of the arrangements. She was a member of St. Mary's Church in Gilroy as well as Our Lady of Fatima,
U.P.P.E.C., and S.P.R.S.I.  She was a native of the Azores Islands. Survivors include sons John of Sunnyvale, Joe,
Manuel and Louie of Gilroy, Frank and Eddie of Vernalis, Filbert of Patterson, and Tony Bettencourt of Hollister;
daughter Mary Escobar of Gilroy; 33 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.  She was
the wife of the late John L. Bettencourt.
