Use Resuscitator in Vain Battle to Save Baby; The Patterson Fire Department's resuscitator was rushed to the Newman
Hospital Thursday evening last week to be used on the new-born daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Manuel V. Bettencourt of
Crows Landing. Chief O. S. Ball and Rodney Edwards took the apparatus down and helped start operations and Newman
volunteers kept it going until Friday noon before the battle was given up. Funeral services were held at Crows Landing
Saturday with Rev. Joseph Porto officiating.
