Heart Failure is Cause of Death; Charles W. Bickford, father of U. M. Bickford, passed away very suddenly Monday
night following a heart attack. The deceased was a pioneer resident of Stockton, coming there from the east in 1878, and
was a well-known and highly respected resident of the Slough city, being a Past Grand master of Charity Lodge of Odd
Fellows there and also Master Mason. For some time past he and his wife have been making their home here with their
son and he has been a familiar figure through his kindly interest in affairs around town in the course his daily strolls.
He was 77 years of age, a native of Maine.  Beside the local relatives a son, Earl W., resides in Sacramento.  The funeral
was held yesterday afternoon at Stockton, with interment there.
