Bock Henry 470131 p2 Henry Bock West Side Pioneer, Dies; Crows Landing, Jan. 29 --Henry Bock, for 66 years a West Side resident, passed away Monday in a Modesto hospital. He had become ill suddenly last week and was moved there late Saturday for treatment. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in the Davis Chapel at Newman, with Rev. H. J. von Renner, pastor of the James Lutheran Church conducting the rites. Interment was made in Hills Ferry Cemetery. A native of Germany, Bock was 88 years old. He came directly to the West Side in 1881 and, within a few years, became a grain farmer on his own account on a ranch west of the present site of Patterson then known as Emerald. Later, he purchased a ranch home two miles north of Crows Landing, where he and his family made their home for several years. When he retired from active work, he moved into town to occupy his home on H Street. Three children survive. They are Mrs. Martha Mardock of Oakland, William Bock of Crows Landing, and Mrs. Glen Hendy of Patterson.
