Officers found his 22 rifle near the edge of the aqueduct about a half mile north of McCracken. Nearby were footprints of both the dog and a man leading down to the waterway, but none leading back. He was last seen at about 7:30 am when he told his father he was going to hunt rabbits. The dog was rescued by officers about quarter of a mile downstream from where the rifle was found. The man's body was located by a diver hired by the family at about 9:20 am Saturday. Funeral services are pending at Lima Family Mortuary in San Jose.
