Final Rites Are Held Here for Ernest Borba, 72;  Final rites were held here Monday for Ernest M. Borba, a life-long
resident of Crows Landing.  He died last Thursday in Ceres at age 72.  A diesel mechanic, he was a member of Operating
Engineer Local No. 3, the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church of Crows Landing. UPEC and IDES of Newman.
A rosary was recited Sunday evening at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Patterson where a Mass was celebrated Monday
morning. Burial followed in Patterson District Cemetery.  Hillview Funeral Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Elvina Borba of Crows Landing; a son. Ernest Borba Jr. of Sparks, Nev.; two daughters,
Barbara Silva of Ceres and Maryann Verhaegen of Patterson; three grandchildren; a sister, Julia Pedersen of Newman;
and his mother, Mary Borba of Newman.  The family requests that remembrances be sent to the American Cancer
Society, P.O. Box 423, Patterson.
