John Borges Dies at Age 65; Final rites will be held here Wednesday for John Paul Borges, 65, who died Sunday
following a long illness.   A native of Patterson, he was a lifelong resident of the community.  He was retired after
farming for many years. A rosary will be recited Tuesday at 7 pm at Hillview Funeral Chapel.  A Mass will be celebrated
Wednesday at 10 am at Sacred Heart Church where he was a member.  The Rev. Kevin Collins will officiate.  Burial in
Patterson District Cemetery will follow.  Visitation at the chapel will be Tuesday from 4 pm until the rosary. He was a
veteran of World War II and twice served as commander of the Elijah B. Hayes American Legion Post here.  He also was
a member of Operating Engineer Local 3. Survivors include his wife, Wauneta Borges of Patterson; two sons, David of
Nevada and John Borges Jr., of Patterson; two daughters, Deborah McSwain of Los Banos and Annette Ferguson of
Patterson; four sisters, Mary Poretti of Nevada, Clara Borba and Alice Borelli of Modesto, and Beatrice Morias of
Turlock; a brother, Joe Borges of Patterson; and 13 grandchildren.
