Briggs Gladys T 020108 p8 A graveside service will be held here Friday afternoon for longtime Patterson resident Gladys Thelma Briggs. She died Nov. 17 in Ordway, Colorado . She was 91. She was born in Ordway and moved here with her family in the late 1040s when her husband came to work on the construction of the Delta-Mendota Canal. When the canal was completed, the family stayed when he went to work in construction foe the late John Delphia. She worked in the late Hazel Cronin's Del Puerto Style Shop for a few years and was an avid bridge player. She was living in El Solyo Village when she returned to Ordway for a visit some two years ago. While there she had a stroke and did not return to Patterson. The service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Oattersin District Cemetery. Hillview Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include a son, Robert "Bob" Briggs of Colorado; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great- grandchild; two brothers and a sister, Hugh and Paul McDonald and Pearl Torgler, all of Colorado. She was precede in death by her husband, James Briggs, and a son, James Briggs Jr.
