Brookey Robert L 680516 np R.L. Brookey To Be Buried In Grayson; Robert Leon Brookey, 68, died early Monday morning in a Paradise hospital. He had made his home with his sister, Mrs. William L. Diesbrock in Paradise since January. Brookey was born Sept.7,1899, to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Brookey in Coal Hill, Ark. The family moved to Grayson in 1902 where he was raised. As a young man he moved to the Bay Area and in 1919 became an employee of the U.S. Post Office Department as a railway postal clerk, and traveled mainly in California and Oregon. After his retirement in September, 1959, he made his home in Salt Lake City, Utah, until moving to Paradise. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Ruth B. Diesbrock of Paradise and Mrs. Nora B. Chapman of Santa Cruz; one brother, Walter W. Brookey of Modesto; and two nieces, Mrs. Dorothea Schneider of Capay and Louise Diesbrock of Paradise. Funeral services were held in the Hall-Van Hook Funeral Chapel in Chico Tuesday with the Rev. Paul Aasen of the Faith Lutheran Church officiating. Norman Sandberg was organist and Merrill Womach, soloist. Cremation followed at the Chico Crematory. At a future date, the ashes will be buried in the Grayson Pioneer Cemetery, Grayson.
