Ed. Brown of Patterson Dead; Stricken suddenly while at work in the barnyard of his ranch west of town, Ed Brown, long
time local resident, passed away from a heart attack Wednesday afternoon. Except for complaining of a slight
indisposition that morning, Brown had been following his daily routine and he had been absent from the house about an
hour when Mrs. Brown went to look for him and discovered him near the tank house where he had evidently gone for a
drink, the dipper lying nearby.  Medical aid  was summoned, but he had passed away. The deceased had resided on the
same ranch for the past nineteen years and was a popular and widely known citizen whose sudden demise is a shock to
all. Funeral services will be held today from the Shannon funeral chapel at Modesto, with interment in Modesto
cemetery.
