Buchanan Muriel E 910103 p12 Welsh native M. Buchanan Dies at 78; Welsh-born Muriel Eleanor Buchanan, a Patterson resident the past 33 years, died Dec. 26 after a short illness. She was 78. She practiced her nursing Career in London County hospitals before joining the Civil Defense Ambulance Corp during the latter part of World War II She resided in the United States since 1949 after meeting and marrying the late Frank Wesley Buchanan. After farming in the Tracy area, the Buchanans moved to Patterson in 1957. While living here she became a naturalized citizen of her adopted country. Active in Patterson s af- fairs, she served one term as president and two as co-president of the Del Puerto Hospital Auxiliary, of which she was a member for 15 years. She also served as acquisitions chairman for the Patterson Township Historical Society, was a member of the Patterson Garden Club, and served as a den mother for Cub Scout Pack 81. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Bette Buchanan of Patterson; a daughter, Sandra Buchanan of West Hollywood; two granddaughters, Molly and Carole Buchanan; two brothers and three sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews in the United States and abroad. The family requests that remembrances may be made to the Del Puerto Hospital Auxiliary, P.O. Box 1246, Patterson.
