Modesto Woman Drowns in River; A 21-year-old Modesto woman drowned Sunday evening in the San Joaquin River
near Laird Park. Her body was found Monday morning by sheriffs department deputies, who located it some 90 feet
downstream from where it is believed she fell into the water.  Her husband, who had been fishing at the scene had left
briefly to get firewood. It is believed she may have suffered an epileptic seizure.  Others fishing nearby did not see or
hear anything abnormal, they told investigating officers.  Her young daughter was found at the scene when her husband
returned. A funeral will be held today, Thursday, in Escalon for Anita Amerson Daniels, who was a native of Ceres.
Survivors include her husband, James Daniels of Modesto; a daughter, Jennifer Daniels; and her parents, Carolyn Miller
of Oakdale and Gary Amerson of Florida.
