The exact cause of death as determined by the coroner s office in Modesto had not been released by Wednesday afternoon. Miss. Davis collapsed in the corral area at her home early Monday morning and was found by her father about 8:30 a.m. She apparently had left the house to feed her horse. The investigation by the coroner s office revealed she suffered head and chest injuries. Early Sunday morning Miss Davis was taken to the Del Puerto Hospital after being struck by a car on Sperry Ave. within the city limits. Her injuries appeared to be minor, and she was released after examination. The driver of the car, David Applegate of Modesto, said she darted in front of his car as he drove east on Sperry Ave. He applied the brakes, and the car skidded sideway, striking the girl and knocking her down.
