Adelita Florez DeLeon   April 30, 1940 - Dec. 31, 2004
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church for Adelita Florez DeLeon of
Patterson, who died Friday at her home.  Mrs. DeLeon, 64, was born April 30, 1940, in Raymondville, Texas, and lived in
Patterson 20 years.  She was a teacher at the Stanislaus County Infant and Child Care Development Centers in Turlock,
Newman and Modesto 25 years.  Mrs. DeLeon was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Patterson where she
belonged to Young Ladies Institute No. 149, also known as YLI.  Mrs. DeLeon enjoyed traveling and spending time with
her grandchildren.  She also liked writing poetry.  Survivors include five sons, Leonard DeLeon of Turlock, Martin
DeLeon of Modesto and Jesse DeLeon, Carlos DeLeon and Albert DeLeon, all of Patterson; two daughters, Blanca
Ruckert of Albany, Ore. and Estella Strode of Longview, Wash.; a sister, Rosa Mireles of Lyford, Texas; 18
grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her son, Samuel DeLeon, in 1996, and sister,
Viola Florez, in 1998.  Mass will begin at 10 a.m. today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 529 I St., Patterson.  Burial will
follow at Patterson District Cemetery, 10800 Highway 33, Patterson.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests
remembrances to the Adelita DeLeon Scholarship Fund, c/o Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 529 I St., Patterson 95363.
Whitehurst, Norton & Dias Chapel, 286 W. Main St., Turlock, is in charge of arrangements.
