Delphia Dorothy I 960521 p10 Dorothy Irene Delphi, 83; A graveside service was held Monday afternoon at Patterson District Cemetery for long time local resident Dorothy Irene Delphia. She died last Thursday at the Turlock Nursing and Rehab Center, where she had been in failing health for some time. She was 83. A native of Manchester in the Mendocino area, she moved here with her family when she was 5. She was a member of the Federated Church and had served as an elder; and was a member of both the Order of the Eastern Star and the Salvation Army. A homemaker, she also was active in the Girl Scouts, serving as district chairman and director of the Muir Trail Council. According to her nephew Claude Delphia, she worked for the Ielmini brothers in the Patterson Bakery in the 1930s. After marrying Elwyn Delphia, she cooked huge meals twice a day and delivered them to the Delphia harvesting crews for a number of years. She also sang in the Federated Church choir for over 30 years. Cunningham's Affordable Burial & Cremation Centers was in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include two daughters, Joan Wah-Delphia of Orinda and Marlene Podesto of Chico; a son, Clark Delphia of Modesto; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Virginia Usadel of Patterson; and two brothers, Robert Carr of Yuma, Ariz., and Wesley Carr of Huron. Remembrances should be sent to the Federated Church Memorial Fund.
