16-year-old Thomas Devine Takes Life:  Sixteen-year-old Thomas Patrick Devine apparently took his own life sometime
late Monday with a shotgun, according to the Stanislaus County Sheriff s Department.  The youth, a student at Orestimba
High School in Newman but until last December a Patterson High School student, lived with his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Danny Devine, at 17818 Crows Landing  Road near Crows Landing.  The family moved from Patterson late last year
after residing here for a number of years.  His body was found in the barn near the family home. He had been reported
missing Monday night. No notes were found and no sound was heard, according to the authorities.  Survivors include his
parents; three brothers, Randy Devine of Modesto and Jeffrey and Danny Devine Jr. of Crows Landing; and his
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wendall Austin of San Jose and Patrick Devine of Kansas.  A funeral service  is set for 1 p.m.
Friday at Allens Mortuary in Turlock.
