Diaz Jr. Nov. 13, 1957 � Jan. 30, 2007 A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday for Salvador A. �Sal� Diaz Jr., who died Tuesday at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto after a long battle with a terminal illness. Mr. Diaz, 49, was a native of Pueblo, Colo., and lived in Patterson 38 years. He graduated from Patterson High School and attended Modesto Junior College, where he earned a certificate in welding. He worked as a certified welder for companies in Modesto and the Bay Area for many years. Mr. Diaz could create, fix, engrave, paint, weld or fabricate just about anything, his family remembers. He was a devoted family man who was protective of his mother, wife, daughters, sisters and granddaughters. He is described by his family as a free spirit who enjoyed life, family and good times with friends. He was an avid San Francisco 49ers fan. He was deeply loved and will be missed by all who loved and knew him. Mr. Diaz is survived by his wife of 31 years, Hilda Rodriguez Diaz; daughters, Anna Diaz and Naomi Diaz, both of Modesto; mother, Eufemia A. Diaz of Patterson; brother, Jesse Diaz of Modesto; sisters, Rose Persak, and her husband, Michael, and Diana Cazares, and her husband, Gustavo, all of Modesto, and Maria G. Diaz of Fresno; grandson, Cesario Luna III; granddaughters, Cassandra Franco, Larissa Luna, Delilah Luna and Jocelyn Tapia; and many nieces, nephews-in-law, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Salvador Diaz, in 2003. Tuesday�s Mass will begin at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 529 I St., in Patterson. Burial will follow in Patterson District Cemetery, 10800 Highway 33, Patterson. Visitation will be observed from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m., at the church. Eaton Family Funeral Services, 513 12th St., in Modesto is handling arrangements.
