Services Held For Mrs. Alves' Father; Funeral services were held Monday morning in Newman for Manuel Machado
Diniz, 55, father of Mrs. Anthony Alves of Eucalyptus Ave., Patterson. He died Friday of a heart attack while at work in
a Newman creamery.  Interment was at Hills Ferry Cemetery. Diniz was born in Terceira, Azores Islands, and he had
lived in Newman 37 years, working first as a dairyman and then at the creamery.  He was a member of UPEC No. 68 and
the FDES Society of Newman. He leaves his widow, Mary A. Diniz of Newman; children Mary A. Diniz and Manuel A.
Diniz of Newman and Mrs. Alves of Patterson; his mother, Josefa da Costa Diniz of the Azores; brothers and sisters, Mrs.
George S. Silva and Lydia Teixeira of Newman; Mrs. M. C. Pedro of Hilmar, Alice Diniz Alves and Frank Diniz Cardoza
of the Azores.
