Maria B. Diniz. 94;  The mother of a Patterson area woman died Feb. 20 at Brandel Manor in Turlock.  Maria B. Diniz,
94, was a native of Agualva, Terceira, Azores.  She had lived in Patterson and Newman for many years.  She was a
homemaker.  She was a member of St. Joachim's Catholic Church in Newman, its Altar Society, and Our Lady of
Miracles Society, as well as Sacred Heart Church in Patterson and Our Lady of Fatima Society, Los Banos.  A rosary and
Mass were held last Friday at St. Joachim's Church.  Burial was in Hills Ferry Cemetery, Newman.  Survivors include a
son, Manuel Diniz of Modesto; two daughters, Deolinda Alves of Patterson and Mary Muratore of Merced; six
grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Francisca Avila of Los Banos and Sister Maria De Natal of
Lemos, Portugal.
