Dobbel, John L 061021 p17 John L. Dobbel June 11, 1931 � Oct. 19, 2006 A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday for John L. Dobbel of Modesto, who died Thursday at Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson. Mr. Dobbel, 75, was a native of Woodland. He lived in Modesto three years and previously had lived 17 years in Patterson. He was a carpenter for 50 years and last worked at Signature Properties in Pleasanton. A U.S. Army veteran, he served during the Korean War. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Patterson. Mr. Dobbel was also a member of the Lions Club and Knights of Columbus in Patterson. He enjoyed fishing and riding dirt bikes. Mr. Dobbel is survived by his fianc�e, Dorothy Pierce of Modesto; son, Nick Dobbel, and his wife, Patricia, of Roberts, Mont.; daughter, Janet Beeler, and her husband, Dan, of Elko, Nev.; grandchildren, Sandra and Alex Beeler of Elko; and stepchildren, Deena Souza of Patterson, Clint Pierce of Atwater and Nicholas Pierce of Modesto. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Agnes Dobbel, who died in 1992, and brother, Roger Dobbel. Tuesday's Mass and the recital of a rosary will begin at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 529 I St., in Patterson. Burial will follow at Dublin Cemetery, 6600 Donlon Way, in Dublin. Visitation will be observed from 9:30 to 11 a.m. that same day at the church. The family prefers, in lieu of flowers, that memorial contributions be sent to Memory of John L. Dobbel, c/o U.S. Bank, 13 Plaza, Patterson 95363. Hillview Funeral Chapel, 650 W. Las Palmas Ave., in Patterson is handling arrangements.
