Jane Dryden Dies in Sacramento; Word has been received here of the death of Jane Dryden, a Patterson resident from
1940 to 1958 and a long time journalist who was associated with numerous Northen California newspapers.  She died
June 22 at Mercy Hospital in Sacramento. A native of Stockton where she attended private and public schools and was a
member of Lambda Theta Phi sorority, she then made Patterson her home and began her newspaper career. She was
society editor for the Patterson Irrigator and was a freelance writer for the Turlock Journal, Modesto Bee, and Stockton
Record. In 1959 she relocated in San Bruno and was the women s editor of the San Bruno Herald until 1971. She then
became women s editor of the Sebastopol Times, a position she held until her retirement. Survivors include two sons,
Don Dryden of Modesto and Michael Dryden of Huntington Beach. and one daughter, Vicki A. Dryden of Jonesborough,
Tenn. Memorial contributions may be made to the Society for the Prevention of Blindness, or the Arthritis Foundation.
