Isidra Virgie Duran   May 15, 1923  Dec. 8, 2003
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday in Patterson for Grayson resident Isidra "Virgie Duran, 81, who
died Wednesday in Modesto. Mrs. Duran was born May 15, 1923, in Mt. Pleasant, Texas, and lived in Stanislaus County
60 years, mainly in the Westley, Grayson and Patterson areas, and for a short time in Turlock. Mrs. Duran attended
Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Patterson and volunteered her time at the St. Vincent DePaul Thrift Shop in Patterson
and at a food bank in Modesto. She also loved gardening.  Survivors include a daughter, Andrea "Lizzie" Velasquez of
Newman; two sisters, Polly Robles of Modesto and Tonce Gavino of Keyes; two brothers, Louis Duran and Emillo
Duran, both of Ceres; and a granddaughter. Mrs. Duran was preceded in death by her son, Richard Velasquez, who died
in April.  Tuesdays Mass will begin at 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 529 I St., Patterson.  Visitation will
be observed from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Whitehurst, Norton & Dias Funeral Chapel, 286 W. Main St., Turlock. Burial
will be in Patterson District Cemetery.
