Service Held for Don English; Longtime Patterson resident Ray Donald English died here Feb. 28 at age 77.  A
native of Riverton, Iowa, he resided in Patterson for 53 years.  He retired after operating his own service station for
a number of years.  He served in the United States Army during World War II, seeing duty in Europe as a member
of a tank crew.  He was a member of the local American Legion and VFW posts.  A funeral service was held
Saturday afternoon at Hillview Funeral Chapel. Survivors include his wife, Lois English of Patterson; a daughter,
Carolyn English of Patterson; two brothers, Herbert of Modesto and Robert English of Patterson; two stepbrothers,
Harold of Oakdale and Arnold Scoles of the state of Washington; two sisters. Wilma Manetti of Patterson and
Dorene Tersigni of Ukiah; and a stepsister, Wanda Lytle of Patterson. The family requests that remembrances be
sent to the Evangelical Covenant Church, 435 W. Las Palmas Ave., Patterson.
