Esteban Lozano M 650930 p1 Two Farm Workers Dead in Highway 33 Accident; Two farm workers died last Friday as a result of a car-pickup accident on Highway 33 about a mile and a half south of Patterson. Dead on arrival at the hospital was Lozano Medina Esteban, 47, of El Paso, Texas. He was living at the Rudy Avlia Labor Camp. He was a passenger in a car driven by Herrera Fidel Martinez, 26, of Mexico. Martinez died several hours after his arrival at the hospital. He lived in Vernalis and also worked for Rudy Avila. Their two passengers, Olga Elizando DeLimon, 23, of Crows Landing, and Juanita Acevedo, 37, of Crows Landing, were hospitalized following the accident. The four were farm workers and were returning from field work in the Westley area. Their southbound car was struck by a northbound pickup truck driven by Andrew Jackson Holidy, 41, of Patterson. The pickup swerved across the center line and struck the southbound car. Holidy is a bulldozer operator on the San Luis Dam project. He was hospitalized and released Saturday. Two charges of felony drunk driving and two charges of manslaughter in the driving of a vehicle are pending against Holiday. Funeral services were held Wednesday in El Paso for Estaban. He is survived by his wife, Josefina of El Paso. Final rites were also conducted Wednesday in San Luis, Sonora, Mexico for Martinez. He is survived by three sisters and three brothers in Mexico.
