Lena Evans, 91;  Former Patterson resident and teacher Lena Evans has died in Glendale.  She died April 22 at age 91.
Mrs. Evans and her husband Floyd moved here in 1937.  She taught in the local school district for 20 years, moving to
San Leandro in 1966.  In 1988 she moved to Glendale to be closer to her daughter.  She remained active in retirement and
was a member of the California Retired Teachers Association, the National Retired Teachers Association, Hayward
Historical Society, San Francisco State Alumni Association, and Alta Mira Club in San Leandro.   She was a native of
Hayward and received her college degree from San Francisco State.  Survivors include a daughter, Melba Cunningham of
Glendale, and a grandson, Eric Cunningham of Austin, Texas.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Evans.
At her request, no services were held. Burial was in Mountain View Cemetery, Oakland.  Remembrances should be sent
to the City of Hope, 1500 E. Duane Rd., Duarte, Calif. 91010, attention: contributions.
