Services held Saturday for Bertha Ewing; GUSTINE - Funeral services were held Saturday morning at the Evan-Krieger
Funeral chapel in Gustine for Bertha Virgo Ewing, 100, who died Thursday at San Luis convalescent Hospital. Mrs.
Ewing, a native of the Fairview district near Modesto, was the daughter of William and Katie Virgo, early-day settlers of
the West Side. Mrs. Ewing a mother was born in Columbia, Calif. Mrs. Ewing, who celebrated her 100th birthday last
October, is survived by her husband Frank of Gustine; two sons, Howell Reid of Jamestown and Russell Reid of
Pittsburgh, Kansas, four nephews, one niece, four grandchildren; sis great grandchildren; and four great-great
grandchildren. She was a member of the Pride of romero Rebekah Lodge, Orestimba Chapter Order of Eastern Star,
Mantis White Shrine and Victory court of Amaranth, both of Springfield, Ohio. Burial was in the family plot at the Hills
Ferry cemetery.
