20-Year-Old Killed in Local Crash: Celina Garcia;  Failure of a young motorist to stop at a stop sign in the rural
Patterson area has been cited as the cause of a fatal accident Thursday afternoon.  Celina Garcia died at the scene of the
two-vehicle crash at Walnut and Sycamore avenues.  The 20 year old was a 1994 graduate of Patterson High School.
She was pinned in the wreckage for more than an hour.  Her body was shipped to Mexico.  A Mass was celebrated
Monday morning at Sacred heart Catholic Church.  The vehicle in which she was a passenger was driven by Raul
Martinez, 17, of Patterson.  The auto was eastbound on Walnut Avenue and did not stop at a stop sign at Sycamore,
according to the California Highway Patrol.  The car was then struck broadside by a southbound pickup driven by
Reginald Lewis, 52.  Both Martinez and Lewis sustained injuries and were taken to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto.
Lewis was later released.
