Patterson Irrigator, 01/05/2008, p 8 Demetria G. Garcia 12/22/1925 � 01/01/2008 A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday for former Patterson resident Demetria G. Garcia of Modesto, who died Tuesday at her daughter�s home in Stockton. Mrs. Garcia, 82, was born in Paducha, Texas. She lived in Modesto the past 36 years and had previously lived in Patterson. A cannery worker for 10 years, she was last employed at Tri‑Valley Cannery in Modesto and was a member of the Teamsters union. Mrs. Garcia was a parishioner of St. Jude�s Catholic Church in Ceres. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and cooking. Mrs. Garcia is survived by her daughters, Guadalupe Salazar, Maria Bazan and Ramona Ochoa, all of Modesto, Teresa Luna of Shamrock, Texas, Lucy Vasquez of Ceres and Gloria Bautista of Stockton; brother, Willie Garcia of Texas; sisters, Tilde Reyes of Colorado and Isabel Galavez of Texas; 40 grandchildren; 68 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Demetrio R. Garcia; a son, Demetrio Garcia; and a sister, Estella Martinez. Thursday�s Mass will begin at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 529 I St., in Patterson. Burial will follow in Patterson District Cemetery, 10800 Highway 33. Visitation will be observed from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hillview Funeral Chapel, 450 W. Las Palmas Ave., in Patterson, followed by the recital of a rosary at 7 p.m. Before Thursday�s Mass, another visitation will be observed from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at the chapel.
