Gardiser Helen 920616 p14 Helen Gardiser, 92; Retired teacher Helen Janet Gardiser, a 50-year resident of Patterson, died last Thursday at Del Puerto Hospital where she had been a patient for some time. She was 92. A native of Sacramento, she was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the California Retired Teachers Association. She was a teacher at the Jackson School in San Jose before her marriage. She then was a substitute teacher in Eureka and moved to the Patterson-Grayson area in 1940. She taught at the Rising Sun School for eight years beginning in 1941, then at the Las Palmas School in Patterson until her retirement in 1962. A rosary was recited Sunday evening at Hillview Funeral Chapel in Patterson. Her ashes were to be scattered at sea following the rosary. Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Burch of Patterson, two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Gardiser.
