Gaspar Manuel 570314 p1 Final Rites for Manuel Gaspar; Requiem mass was held Wednesday morning at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church for Manuel Gaspar, 72, who passed away Sunday morning at Del Puerto Hospital following a heart attack at his Rogers Road home the previous Wednesday. Rosary was recited Tuesday night at 8:30 and the Father Rose Council, Knights of Columbus, recited rosary at 8 p. m. Tuesday at Evans Chapel. Internment was at St Mary s Cemetery. Gaspar was a native of Pico Island, the Azores, and had lived in this area for the past 18 years. He came here from the Bay Area. He was past supreme president of the UPEC, a member of UPEC Council No. 63 of Oakland, a member of IDES Council No. 9 in Oakland, a member of the Benevolent Society of Oakland and a charter member of Father Rose Council, Knights of Columbus. He is survived by a son, Alfred, of Patterson; two grandchildren, Mrs. Carol Nunes of Patterson and Norman of Oakland; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Ignacio, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Simas, of Pico Island, the Azores.
