Evelyn F. Mohr Gehri
Feb. 27, 1921 � March 17, 2009
A memorial service will be Saturday for Evelyn F. Mohr Gehri of Patterson, who 
died March 17 at Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson.
Mrs. Gehri, 88, was born to William and Amelia Mohr of Livermore. She was an 
eighth‑generation Californian and grew up in the Altamont area near Livermore.
Mrs. Gehri met her future husband, Fred Gehri, at a USO dance in 1947. She loved 
gardening, and her goal each year was to have flowers and vegetables blooming 
year-round.
Mrs. Gehri organized a petition drive to get the Del Puerto Canyon Road paved 
from Patterson to the Santa Clara County line so that her children could travel 
to Patterson High School safely. She was also responsible for getting historical 
landmarks in the San Antonio Valley area returned to their original names.
Mrs. Gehri is survived by her three children, Bill Gehri, and his wife, Susie, 
of Sonora, Linda Scoles, and her husband, Steve, of Modesto, and Bonnie Hyman of 
Snelling; eight grandchildren; and six great‑grandchildren, with a seventh one 
expected soon.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Fred Gehri, who died in 
2006; parents, William and Amelia Mohr; siblings, Margaret, William, Fred and 
Edgar; and son-in-;law, Dean Hyman.
Saturday�s memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 124 S. 
Del Puerto Ave.
