Gervasoni Attilio F 720907 p1 Pioneer Gervasoni Rites Today; A requiem class was celebrated this morning, Thursday, in Oar Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Modesto, for Attilio Frank "Jerry" Gervasoni, who was stricken at home last Sunday at the age of 95. Born in Locarno, Switzerland, he came to Crows Landing in 1893 and worked on both the Simon Newman and Cash Crow ranches before going into business for himself. In 1907 he bought the McCullough ranch on Crows Landing Road and operated his own dairy. Active as a livestock dealer, Gervasoni built a slaughterhouse on Marshall Road, and operated packing houses in Patterson and San Francisco. He also ran a few dairies, a store at the corner of Crows Landing Highway and River Road, and the Red-White Grocery Market in Patterson where the Coast to Coast store is now. Gervasont owned the property on which Catfish Camp now stands when the rivet boats docked there. Boats also docked behind his slaughterhouse when it was active. He retired in 1952. He was a long time member of the Druids Lodge in Newman and a member of the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Patterson. His wife, the former Rose Crocco, died Aug. 3. Survivors include a son, Charles Gervasoni of Modesto; a grandson, two granddaughters, three great grandchildren, and sisters-in-law, Freda Gilligan, Laura Dickinson, Ida Bassett and Amelia Scheaone, all of Modesto.
