Gil Santos O 720127 p2 Santos O. Gil Stricken on Job During Vacation; A requiem mass was celebrated Friday for Santos Ortis Gil, 49, of 1008 Chicago, Ave., Modesto, who was stricken with a heart attack Jan. 18 while working at 6300 West Grayson Road for Burchell Nursery of Modesto. Interment was in Patterson District Cemetery with Evans Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements. Gil had been an employee of Holly Sugar Co. for the past four years and, while on vacation, was working for the Nursery. It was his first day of employment when the collapse occurred. On arrival at Del Puerto Hospital, Gil was pronounced dead of heart failure. A native of Texas, he had lived in the Westley area for three years before moving to Modesto area three weeks ago. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Maria Gil of Modesto; eight daughters, the Mmes. Orelia Castillos of Dinuba; Odelia Gonzales and Ofelia Savala of Westley, and the Misses Maria, Rene, Orma Linda, Francisca and Benita Gil, all of Modesto. Also surviving are three brothers, Andres of Riverside, and Marcos and Pete Gil of Texas; and two sisters, Miss Juanita and Miss Espanza Gil of Texas. Also surviving are four sons, Pedro of Westley and Estevan, Albert and Robert Gil, all of Modesto.
