Gill Mary C 040616 p5 Macy C. Gill April 2, 1902 -- June 13, 2004 A rosary will be recited and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday for Mary C. Tosta Gill, 95, of Gustine, who died Sunday at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto. Mrs. Gill was a native of Riberinha, Terceira, Azores, and she lived in Gustine 92 years. She and her husband, John, owned the Gill Family Ranch and Dairy for 30 years, and she operated it for 45 years after his death. Mrs. Gill was a member of Our Lady of Miracles Catholic Church in Gustine, the Catholic Daughters of America, the Portuguese organization SPRSI, Our Lady of Miracles Society and the Golden Agers of Newman. She is survived by her children, Frank Gill of Patterson, Eleanor Salsa of Gustine and Hilda Menard of Turlock; brothers, John Tosta of Visalia and Henry Tosta of Tracy; a sister Belmira Coelho of Eugene. Ore; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Martin Gill, who died in 1946; a son., John Gill, who died in 1995; a daughter, Elsie Dutra, who died in 1999; and three brothers. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Hillview Funeral Chapel, 515 First Ave., Gustine. The rosary and Mass will take place 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Miracles, 370 Linden Ave., Gustine. Burial will follow at Hills Ferry Cemetery, 1834 Stuhr Road, Newman. Hillview Funeral Chapel in Gustine is conducting services. Gill Mary C 040623 p9 Mary C. Gill April 2, 1901 -- June 23, 2004 A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday for dairy farmer Mary C. Tosta Gill, 95, of Gustine, who died Sunday at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto. A native of Riberinha, Terceira, Azores, Mrs. Gill lived in Gustine 92 years. She and her husband, the late ,John Martin Gill, owned the Gill family ranch and dairy 75 years. She was the owner and operator of the dairy after his death in 1946. Mrs. Gill was a member of Our Lady of Miracles Catholic Church in Gustine, the Catholic Daughters, S.P.R.S.I., the OLM Society and the Golden Agers of Newman. Mrs. Gill is survived by three children. Frank Gill of Patterson, Eleanor Salsa of Gustine and Hilda Menard of Turlock; two brothers, Henry Tosta of Tracy and John Tosta of Visalia; a sister, Belmira Coelho of Eugene, Ore.; 11 grandchildren; 11 great- children; and two great-great-grandchildren Her husband; a son, John Gill; a daughter; Elsie Dutra; and three brothers preceded her in death.
