Maybelle B.  Gill, 85;  Word has been received here of the recent death of former Patterson resident Maybell Gill.  the
earl  199&s to be near her son. She was 85.  She died February 16 in Boise, Idaho, where she had moved in the early
1990s to be near her son.  She was 85.  She had lived for several years in an assisted care nursing facility in Boise.  Born
in Akron, Ohio, the daughter of Virgil and Augusta Bartlett, she was young when she moved with her parents and brother
to Ventura, California where her father went to work in the oil fields.  She attended schools there, graduating from
Ventura Junior College in 1936, after which she began a secretarial career that lasted until her retirement in the mid-
1980s.  Here she was employed for some 30 years by the Evans Telephone Company where she was often referred to as
Ma Gill. Her family remembers that she dearly love her"little Patterson" and her home on North Fourth Street where
numerous friends often gathered for backyard barbecues.   She also served as secretary for the Patterson -Westley
Chamber of Commerce for a number of years.  Son Bill Basham commented, "A final thank you to a small community that
appreciated her and gave her a place to raise her family and enjoy many, many wonderful friendships."  No services were
held. Her ashes were scattered over the Pacific Ocean.  Survivors include a son and his wife, Bill and Jane Basham of
Boise, as well as four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by son Steve Basham and an
infant daughter, Cynthia Gill.
