Jose Benavidez Gomez, 53;  A custodian with the Patterson Unified School District has died at his home in Ceres.
Jose Benavidez Gomez, a native of Laredo, Texas, died Oct. 13 following an illness.  He was 53 and had lived in Ceres
for 34 years.  He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Patterson.  A rosary was recited last Friday evening
at the Whitehurst Norton Chapel in Turlock.  A Mass was celebrated Saturday morning at Sacred Heart Church in
Turlock.  Survivors include his wife, Carmen Gomez of Ceres; a son, Victor Gomes of Turlock; a daughter, Yolanda
Higareda of Merced; five grandchildren; his parents, Jose and Paula Gomez, as well as four brothers and three sisters, all
of Laredo, Texas.
