One Dead in I-5 Crash; One man died Thursday night in a two-car accident on I-5 about a mile south of the Patterson
turnoff. Killed was Wilfredo Gonzalez, 36, of Metairie, Louisiana.   He died in a Medi-Flight helicopter en route to a
Modesto hospital. The accident occurred about 9:30 a.m., and Gonzalez was transferred by ambulance to the Patterson
Flying Service strip where he was pickup up by helicopter. It was believed the two dark Toyotas involved in the crash in
the northbound lane collided when one made a lane change.  Left at the scene were seven "walking wounded" including a
mother and two small children who did not appear to be seriously injured.  Three young men suffered lesser injuries, and
only three of the seven were transported by ambulance for medical treatment. Two nurses stopped at the scene and began
CPR on Gonzalez, then helped a local paramedic start the I.V. and connect the EKG.
