Grannis Francis C 860821 p8 Memorial Rites Set for Francis Cox Grannis; A memorial funeral service will be held next Monday in Modesto for West Side native Francis Cox Mallory Grannis. She died last Saturday after having lived the past 25 years in Fresno. The service will be held at the St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Modesto at 11 a.m. Monday. She was accepted as a student to attend the University of California at Berkeley at age 16, and received a degree in education from San Jose State in 1942. From 1962 to 1979 she taught special class of educable retarded children in Fresno. She was a member of the Catholic Church, Kappa Alpha Theta while in college, the Junior Auxiliary of Stanford Convalescent Home, and the Women's League of St. John Vianney of San Jose. In the 1950s she hosted a woman's radio talk show on KSJO, now KLIV, in San Jose. Survivors include her husband, Paul Grannis of Fresno; four sons, Charles Mallory Jr. of Fresno, Patrick Mallory of San Diego, Stephen Mallory of San Ramon, and James Mallory of Palo Alto; a daughter, Madelyn O'Connell of Piedmont; a brother, John Cox of Westley; four sisters, Betty Spyra and Mimi Draper of Patterson, Madelyn Chatton of Berkeley, and Jane Thomas of Pasadena; and eight grandchildren. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be sent to the Francis Cox Grannis Memorial Fund, Rata School, 1373 West Mesa, Fresno, Calif. 93705. She taught at this school for many years.
