Gray Dale G 970925 p8 Dale G. Gray, 77; A Modesto man who was known on the West Side has died at age 77. Dale G. Gray died Tuesday at his home. He was a native of Jerome, Idaho, and had resided in Stanislaus County since 1945. He was an almond farmer. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, flying B29s in the South Pacific. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was a member of American Legion Post 74 in Modesto, the 73rd Bomb Wing Association, and was a member of Masonic Lodge #236 of Livingston. He also was a member of the Modesto Airport Pilots Association. the California Pilots Association, the California Flying Farmers, the California Farm Bureau, the Modesto Chamber of Commerce, and the McHenry Mansion Foundation. He attended the Trinity United Presbyterian Church, 160 Carver Rd. in Modesto where a memorial service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. Private burial will be in Hills Ferry Cemetery, Newman. Hillview Funeral Chapel in Newman is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include his wife, Janice M. Gray of Modesto; a son, Walter Gray of Modesto; two daughters, Rebecca Boman of Las Vegas and Christine Gray of Stockton; six grandchildren; a brother, Don Gray of Pocatello, Idaho; and a sister, Shirley Bell of Orland.
