Green Velma D M 010109 p8 Velma McVey Green, 86; Services were held here Friday for Velma Dorothy Marie McVey Green, who died Jan. 2 at Sunbridge of Fremont Convalescent Hospital in Fremont. She was 86 and had been in declining health for some time. She moved to Patterson 18 years ago from Fremont, where she had resided for 25 years. She was a native of La Harpe, Kansas. For 10 years she owned and operated a beauty salon in Bartlesville, Okla., before starting her family. She attended the Federated Church here and was a former member of the Methodist Church in Fremont. She was a past noble grand with the Rebekah Silver Star Lodge #336 in Fremont and was a member of the Santa Rita Rebekah Lodge #299 in Newman for 30 years. She also was a member of the Ladies Encampment Auxiliary #3 and was a past chief of the Damon Pythian Sisters #23 for 65 years. Both are located in Stockton. A graveside service was held Friday morning at Patterson District Cemetery, and a memorial service following in the afternoon at the Federated Church. Survivors include her husband, Joseph K. Green of Patterson; two sons, Joseph K. Green II of Salinas and Carl I. Green of Portland, Ore.;, two daughters, Janice Sue Green Small of Fremont and Nancy Ann Green Robinson of Santa Barbara; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, George C. McVey of Bartlesville.
