Patterson Irrigator, 04/29/2010, p 12 Floren C. Grischott April 24,1928 - Apri1 25 2010 A private celebration of life will be in mid-May for Patterson native Floren "Gunny" Grischott, who died Sunday, April 25, at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto. Mr. Grischott, 82, was born to John and Julia Grischott of Patterson and was raised here. He graduated in Patterson High School's class of 1946. During high school, Mr. Grischott was a standout football and baseball player and an artist. After graduation, Mt Grischott was drafted into the U.S Army and served during the Korean War from 1950 to 1952. He married his sweetheart, Marilyn Sterling of Gustine, on Sept. 2, 1950, and the couple spent 59 1/2 years together. After returning from the war, Mt Grischott joined his brother, John, in operating Grischott Bros. in Westley, where he employed many young people during the school year. He retired in 1996 after nearly 40 years in business. Mr. Grischott's hobbies included horseback riding, roping, fishing and playing cards at Johnny's Club with his pals. A member of the Patterson Lions Club since 1961, he prepared beans at the Lions Club barbecue at the Apricot Fiesta for more than 25 years. Mr. Grischott is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Marilyn Grischott of Patterson; daughter, Karen Grischott Agundez, and her husband, Henry, of Patterson; son, Craig Grischott, and his wife, Valerie, of Patterson; and six grandchildren and a great- grandchild.
