Grischott Martin 621129 p1 Martin Grischott Suffers Fatal Injury At Rail Crossing Tuesday; Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Thurs., for Martin Grischott of Bartch avenue who was fatally injured when his car struck a freight train Tuesday morning. Services will be held at Evans Funeral Chapel with Rev. A. W. Foster officiating. Burial will be in Del Puerto cemetery. Grischott, 78, a semi retired carpenter, was driving to work Tuesday morning about 8 a. m. and apparently did not stop for the rail crossing sign on the private driveway of Patterson Lumber Company. He was making a right turn from the highway to the east. His car was dragged and rolled approximately 75 feet. He was thrown from the car. Grischott was rushed to Del Puerto hospital but died about 3 hours later. The engineer of the 66-car train said the train was doing 39 miles per hour in a slight fog. Grischott was a native of Switzerland, but had lived on the West Side since 1913. He is survived by his wife, Rose: two sisters, Mrs. Mary Bondietti and Mrs. John Grischott, Sr. both of Patterson; a brother, George Fimberger of San Francisco; and another brother and sister in Switzerland. The Grischotts would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this Friday.
