Partner in Pioneer Shop Dies at 86; Gerda Hamberg who helped operate a well remembered ice cream parlor in Patterson
more than 65 years ago died last Friday in Menlo Park.  She was 86. Hamberg, a native of Sweden, settled here with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sanfrid Peterson, not long  after Patterson was founded in 1909. She and a sister, Elsie, ran the
Peterson Sisters Ice Cream Parlor at the same location as the present city offices on Del Puerto Avenue. After moving
from Patterson, she lived in San Mateo for 60 years.  Her sister Elsa Larson and brother Sven Peterson preceded her In
death. She is survived by her daughter Margo Struble of Hillsborough; brother Elnar Peterson of Paradise; and sisters
Irene Fiscus of Exeter, Luella Sears of Patterson and La Verne Bowman of Patterson. Funeral services were held in San
Mateo on Monday. Burial was at Skylawn Memorial Park in the same city.
