Florence Hendy Services Slated; Newman � A Rosary will be recited tonight, Monday, at 7:30 p.m. in the
Evans-Krieger Funeral Chapel here for longtime Newman resident, Florence Marie Hendy, 86, who died
Thursday at West Side Community Hospital. A native of Point Reyes, she had lived in the Newman area since
1898. She was the widow of former Newman Postmaster Lloyd Hendy who died in 1931. She is survived by a
daughter, Ellen Hill of Newman; four grandchildren, Lloyd of Newman, Joan of Crows Landing, and Warren and
Kathryn Hill of Modesto; three brothers, Walter C. Filippini of Patterson, William Filippini of Newman, and
Charles A. Filippini of Crows Landing; and two sisters, Charlotte Vroman of Milbrae, and Lily Hornbostel of
Sacramento.  She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
Tuesday morning at St. Joachim s Catholic Church in Newman.  Private interment services will he held at the
IOOF mausoleum in Modesto. The Newman service is scheduled for 10a.m.  The family requests that donations
be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society.
