Saturday Crash Kills 1 on 1-5; Patterson - A Santa Paula man was killed and his wife seriously injured early Saturday
afternoon when the car she was driving northbound on 1-5 left the roadway and struck an almond tree. Dead is Eric
Hepworth, 78.  He was pronounced dead at Memorial Hospital North in Modesto where he was taken by the Medi-Flight
helicopter. Hepworths wife Jewel 70, was seriously injured.  She apparently lost control of the car a short distance south
of the Westley turnoff.  The vehicle went down an embankment.
