Mexican National Killed in Auto Crash Sunday; A Patterson laborer, Jose Garcia Herrera, 25, Mexican National, was
killed instantly Sunday night when he ran his flatbed truck into the signal guard and pole at the railroad crossing one mile
south of Vernalis on Highway 33. His passenger, Eliodoro S. Quijada, 31, laborer, was taken to Del Puerto Hospital for
treatment and released that night. The accident happened at 10:29 2 P.M. Sunday at the intersection with McCracken
Road, said Highway Patrol reports. Both men were employed at the Avila and Cota Labor Camp in Patterson.  Highway
Patrol reports say the flatbed truck was completely damaged. Disposition of the remains is pending notification of the
Mexican Consulate.  The body is at the Evans Funeral Chapel.
