John �Juan� Mangas Hidalgo

Services will be Monday for former Patterson resident John �Juan� Mangas Hidalgo 
of Empire, who died Tuesday at Hy- ond Convalescent Hospital in Modesto.
Mr. Hidalgo, 78, was born in Watsonville and lived in Patterson from the late 
1970s to 2000.
He was the original founder of Don Juan Foods in Modesto, which he and his wife, 
Mary Hidalgo, opened in 1967. He enjoyed hunting and watching golf.
Mr. Hidalgo is survived by his daughter, Fay Slusher of Ceres; two 
grandchildren, Lyndsay Kelly of San Diego and Cody Slusher of Ceres; and a 
sister, Pacita Villalba, and brother, Marcial �Lito� Hidalgo, both of Spain.
Monday�s memorial service will begin at 9 a.m. at St. Jude�s Catholic Church, 
3824 Mitchell Road, in Ceres.
