Betty S. Howell, 72;  Former Patterson resident Betty S. Howell died Tuesday at her home in Escondido after an
extended illness.  She was 72.  She was a homemaker and belonged to the Ladies Group at the Meadow Lake Country
Club for 25 years. She also was a volunteer for numerous charitable organizations.   A native of Ripon, she graduated
from Ripon High School in the class of 1947. She and her husband lived here from 1971-73. after which they moved to
Escondido. They were acquainted with numerous Patterson residents.  A funeral service will be held here Monday at the
Federated Church. Burial will follow in Patterson District Cemetery.  Survivors include her husband, George Howell of
Escondido; a daughter, Karen Azevedo of Gustine; one grandchild; and three brothers, Elwood Schut and Michael Schut.
both of Patterson, and Alan Schut of Berkeley.  Remembrances should be sent to the American Cancer Society. 1604
