Hunt Glady B 000509 p4 Glady Bible Hunt, 84; A 12 year resident of Patterson, Glady Biebel Hunt, died last Thursday at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto. She was 84 She was a homemaker and a retired bookkeeper for Standard Oil, for whom she worked 20 years. Here in Patterson she became known to many as the woman with the little dog in the basket. She was born in Seattle, Wash. and served 18 months in the U.S. Army WACS during World War II. She was discharged in 1945 as a typist clerk with a corporal rating, earning the Medal of Victory. Good Conduct Medal, and American Campaign Medal. She then took position with Standard Oil writing a book on the history of the giant company. After working at house cleaning and taking in laundry, she saved to move to Patterson in 1989, buying a mobile home here in Las Palmas Estates. She also worked here before finally retiring. She many times brought her little dog with her on trips downtown. She also enjoyed making peanut brittle, which she both sold and gave away, and developed many friends here. Life wasn't always as pleasant. She celebrated 26 years of sobriety this year, and 25 years ago authored and marketed a small book telling of her recovery and other thoughts. Eaton Family Funeral Cremation Service of Modesto is in charge of the arrangements. Private internment is planned. Survivors include a sister Dorothy Truckey of Tacoma Wash., and caregiver Florence Stewart of Patterson.
